AIT Library was founded in 1959 since it was SEATO Graduate School in Chulalongkorn University. In 1977, the Regional Documentation Center (RDC) was established in the AIT Library. The purpose of this information center was to coordinate and optimize all information activities at the Institute. After that, the Library was called the Library and Regional Documentation Centers (LRDC) and was changed to Center for Library and Information Resources (CLAIR) in 1997.

In 1979 the Japanese Government generously funded US$4.6 million for the construction of the new Library Building and was officially opened on 21st August 1981. In 2001 the name was changed again to AIT Library as the Information Centers which moved out to the academic office.

AIT Library has progressively developed into the best Engineering Library in the Region. Its holdings cover the subject areas corresponding to the academic programs and activities of AIT's four schools, programs and centers. Currently the Library collection consists more than 230,000 volumes of books, technical reports, theses, dissertations, proceedings and bound journals with 830 current periodical subscriptions. It is growing at the rate of 5,500 volumes per year.

The Library services include lending reference, on-line information retrieval, referral, inter-library loans, photocopying, microfilming, bibliography compilation and document delivery service as well as access to electronic journals.
